Exhibit A. The figure on file

Up to EUR 0

Employing a non-EEA national without a valid permission is an offence carrying fines up to EUR 250,000, so every worker must be checked before their first day.

Exhibit B. On the record
Check the stamp, not the passport

Right to work in Ireland turns on the immigration stamp, not nationality alone.

08Questions on file
Q01When should right-to-work checks happen?

Before the person starts work. Checking early avoids illegal employment and gives you time to resolve any permission issue before a start date is committed.

Q02What if a candidate's permission is due to expire?

We flag the expiry and advise on renewal or an alternative permit so there is no gap in the right to work. IRP registration renews at EUR 300 per person per year, so we diary it well ahead.

Q03Can we hire someone who already holds a permit for another employer?

Not on that permit. An employment permit authorises work only for the named employer in the named role, so a new permit or a change of employer is needed first. Hiring on someone else's permit is still illegal employment.

Q04How do we check a student or Stamp 2 holder?

We confirm the stamp and its hour limits. Stamp 2 students face strict caps on working hours, so we verify the role fits those limits rather than assuming a right to full-time work.
