Application for a Change of Immigration Status in Ireland
If you currently have an immigration permit to reside in the State (Stamp 1, 2 or 3) and a valid, current Irish Residence Permit (IRP) or GNIB card, you may apply for an amendment to that immigration permit.
If you do not have a valid immigration permit, you cannot apply for a change of status in this manner. Individuals who wish to change their immigration status should do so in a timely manner before their current immigration permit expires. The fact that a change of status application has been filed and is under review does not affect or extend the applicant’s current authorization.
