Q01Does an Irish visa cover the Schengen area?
No. Ireland is outside the Schengen zone, so an Irish visa does not admit you to Schengen countries and a Schengen visa does not admit you to Ireland. If your trip covers both, you need two separate visas, and we advise on each.
Q02How long can I stay?
A short-stay C visa allows a maximum of 90 days in any 180-day period. It is for visits, not for living, working or studying in Ireland.
Q03Can I extend or switch inside Ireland?
Short-stay C visas are generally not extendable beyond 90 days and cannot normally be converted to work or study from inside Ireland. If your real plan is longer, apply for the correct long-stay D visa from home.
Q04Why are visit visas refused?
Refusals usually cite doubt that you will leave. Strong ties, a job letter, family, property, a paid itinerary and clear finances do far more than simply adding extra bank statements.
Q05Do I need a transit visa?
Some nationalities need a transit visa (€25) even to change flights at an Irish airport without entering the State. We confirm whether your nationality is affected before you travel.
Q06Single or multiple entry?
A single journey visa (€60) is for one visit. A multiple entry visa (€100) suits repeated business or family visits over its validity, though each stay still counts toward the 90-in-180 limit.
